Tabs within a page (to get around the page limit)
What would you like to add
Problem
The number of pages per screen is limited (12 in my setup). That's tight when a home has many rooms and many categories (lights, blinds, audio, heating, ...). Today each category/room combination needs its own page, so the limit is reached quickly.
Proposal
Add an optional Tabs element to a page. A tab bar (e.g. at the top or bottom of the page) switches between several tab contents, and each tab has its own set of tiles.
Example for one page "Living room":
- Tab 1: π‘ Lights
- Tab 2: πͺ Blinds
- Tab 3: π΅ Audio
- Tab 4: π‘οΈ Heating
Each tab would hold its own tile grid, so one page replaces 3β5 pages.
Suggested behavior
- In the editor: "Add tabs" on a page, with 2β5 tabs. Each tab has an icon and/or a short label.
- Each tab has its own tile layout (same drag & drop as a normal page).
- The tab bar is always visible; the active tab is highlighted. The last used tab can be remembered.
- Tabs don't count toward the page limit (or count only as the one page that holds them).
- Swipe between pages should keep working (swiping between tabs could be optional).
- Boards with little space (CYD 2.8", 3.5" boards) could limit the number of tabs (e.g. 3) or show icons only.
Benefits
- Fewer pages, less swiping, clearer structure (by room or by category).
- Works around the page limit without more memory.
- Fits the existing idea of sub-pages and "a tile that opens another page".
Open questions
- Memory cost on small boards (pages are pre-built): build tabs lazily?
- Tab bar position (top/bottom) and how it interacts with the existing top bar.
