Thanks for the request! ESP Screens 0.2.68 adds a firmware download.

  1. Update ESP Screen Manager to 0.2.68 in the App store.
  2. Open ESP Screens → Settings → New screen, choose your board and a name, and under Install via pick Download · flash from your own computer. Click Build & download. The first build takes a few minutes.
  3. Download the .factory.bin file, plug the screen into your own computer and open ESPHome Web in Chrome or Edge. Click Connect, choose the screen's port, then Install and select the file.
  4. Pair the screen under Settings → Devices & services with the API key the window shows.

After that, updates go over Wi-Fi, so the cable is only needed once. For a profile you already have: Settings → Firmware & USB → the profile → Download → Build & download.

Could you let me know if this works on your Proxmox setup?
