Enable page jump after an action completes

What would you like to add

I have a scenario where I assign a script to a button to start my AV system to play a source. After the script is executed I would then like the screen to switch to another page where I will have the controls and now playing information for the source device.

How this relates to Home Assistant

Select a script in Home Assistant and then have a Goto Page option

This would also require the ability to use the remote.send command on a tile, although I could write scripts for each tile on the control page.

Good news, this already works with Home Assistant. Every screen exposes an esphome.<screen>_show_page action with one field, page (firmware 0.2.87 and newer). You can use it in two ways:

  • Add it as the last step of your script, so the screen jumps to your controls page once the AV system is started.
  • Or make an automation that triggers when the media player changes to playing and calls esphome.<screen>_show_page. That also works when the source is started from somewhere else, and you don't have to touch the script.

The action wakes the screen if it was dimmed and closes an open card before it opens the page.

For the remote: a tile set to Perform action can call remote.send_command directly, so you don't need a script per tile.

Because Home Assistant can already do this, I'm closing the issue. If you'd still like one tile that does both in a single tap without a script, feel free to reopen it.

Thanks for letting me know about the esphome.<screen>_show_page function. Must have missed that one in the frequent updates :-)

I am not sure how to solve the 'transport control' tile, though. My device is a remote remote.cinema_sony_bluray_ir, and that does not appear to be something I can add to a tile - it doesn't appear in the search. How can this device be added to a tile. I assume that when it is added to a tile, then the remote.send_command option would then be available under the actions of perform action?

Remotes are in, in app 0.4.38 with screen firmware 0.22.0. Update Tessera Screen Manager in Home Assistant, then update the screen when the editor offers it.

  • Remotes in the library. remote.* entities now show up, with Home Assistant's icons. A tap opens the remote's card: the power key in the top bar and, for a Harmony hub or an Android TV, its activities.
  • A keypad for remotes Home Assistant knows the keys of. For Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Sky, DirecTV, LG, Panasonic, Vizio, Xbox and a few more, the card is a keypad: arrows round OK, Back, Home, Play/Pause and the volume, only the keys that remote has. The key names come from Home Assistant's own source and the library version it uses, so they stay in step when Home Assistant updates.
  • Your own keys. For a remote that has no fixed key list, such as an IR blaster like yours, add the remote as a tile, set On tap to Perform action, choose Send command and type the command as you learned it, with the Device if your integration asks for one. Give the tile its own name and icon, one tile per key. For the integrations above, the command field lists the commands the remote takes.

One thing to know with IR blasters: "on" means the blaster may send, not that the player is on. If the remote entity is off, Home Assistant drops every command, so keep it on and use a command tile for the player's power.

Let me know how it works with your Blu-ray player.
