Toggle on/off and adjust colors/luminosity on the same tile

mooky31Suggested this wish ·

What would you like to add

Within the same tile, I'd like to be able to:

  1. toggle the light on/off when tapping on the icon
  2. open commands to set color/color temperature when I tap on the text
  3. set luminosity when I use the slider

As for now, if I set touch to automatic, it toggles on/off. If I set touch to command, it opens the screen to set the color, but I can't switch it off.

How this relates to Home Assistant

I'd like to be able to fully control a RGB light (Ikea Tradfri)

Good news: this already works on one tile, just with a tap and a hold instead of the icon and the text.

  1. Set On tap back to Automatic. A tap then turns the light on or off.
  2. Hold the tile to open the colour card, with brightness, colour and white temperature, as far as the light supports them. Holding opens the card whatever On tap is set to.
  3. For brightness right on the tile, turn on Small slider on the tile in the tile's settings.

With Open control, the tap itself opens the card, which is why you could no longer switch the light off with a tap.

You're right that the hold is hard to discover: the editor doesn't mention it for a light. I'll add that hint in a coming release.

Does that cover what you need with your Tradfri?

Got a screen running? Tell others which board you have and what works on the Tessera website. It helps everyone pick a screen that works.

Indeed, it already works. This was a problem between keyboard and chair ^^ Thanks for your reply, and many thanks for this project, I love it !

Haha, not a problem. The choice between this type of UX and the way that Home Assistant does this is for the reason that the touch interface is quite small, so trying to aim for that icon can be more difficult. I try not to differentiate from that UX as much as possible. But sometimes touch wins.
