Thanks for the idea, that makes a lot of sense. Many people keep automations around that they only switch on when they need them, and a screen on the wall is a good place for that.

The plan is to let you add an automation as a tile, with a choice in the tile's options for what a tap does:

  1. Toggle (the default): a tap turns the automation on or off, like a switch. The icon and tile colour show whether it is enabled, so you can see at a glance which of your automations are active.
  2. Run: a tap runs the automation's actions right away, like a script. The tile then looks like a scene or script button and doesn't show an on/off state.

I'll post here when it is in a release.

Got a screen running? Tell others which board you have and what works on the Tessera website. It helps everyone pick a screen that works.

Automations are in release 0.4.11 (screen firmware 0.7.0). Update the app, then press Update on each screen.

Add an automation like any other tile. It shows Home Assistant's colours and icons: amber with a robot while it is on, grey with a crossed-out robot while it is off.

  1. Tap turns the automation on or off.
  2. Hold the tile to run its actions right away, the way Run actions does in Home Assistant (conditions are skipped).

If you mostly start an automation by hand, choose On tap: Run automation actions in the tile's settings. Then a tap runs it and holding the tile turns it on or off. That tile looks like a script button: grey with when it last ran, amber with "Running..." while its actions run.

Thanks for the idea! Let me know how it works on your screen.
