Screen saver for Waveshare displays with no bakclight control

Hi! Several Waveshare displays do not have the functionality to control backlight. Even switching BL off and back on is problematic. For these displays screen saving is not supported at all, as I see. I think a simple screen saver functionality such as a moving clock display on a black background can be beneficial. Or even a totally black screen. Thanks in advance.
