Go To Page Links in Top Bar
Hello,
Amazing project, great to see the progress.
As per title I'm wondering if it is possible to allow 'Go to page' links/buttons in the top bar. Mainly to enable the use of a 'back to home' button. I guess it would need to be fairly plain to fit up there. It could also be useful if an area or device is spread across a couple of pages.
This is obviously a personal preference but the cleaner look without page nav at the bottom is appealing and gives a little more screen space. Extra nav options in the top bar would help this work.
Thanks!

Add a comment@twoller the "back to home" half of this is in 0.2.122 (firmware 0.2.100), out now.
Every page carries a house at the far left of the top bar, where the page title starts, and one tap takes the screen back to page 1 from wherever it stands. It is as plain as you asked for: the house of Material Design Icons in the same slate as the rest of the bar, standing on the baseline of the page title and a third taller than the bar's own icons. The title moves behind it, and the clock and the values on the right keep every pixel they had. Show home button in Screen settings, on the screen's own settings page and as
switch.<screen>_show_home_buttonin Home Assistant turns it off again.Swiping up from the bottom edge does the same thing now, so with Page buttons off you get the cleaner look you describe and still have two ways home. Every swipe that lands also lights up the edge it came from for a moment, so the screen answers the gesture before the new page is drawn.
Links to any other page in the bar are not in. The right of the bar is where the clock and your own values live, up to six of them, so a row of page links would have to take room from those or from the page title. For jumping to a particular page there are Go to page tiles, which can be double-width or take a whole page, and one on each of the pages that share an area covers that case. If the house is what you were really after, say so and I will close this; if you would still want a link to a named page up there, tell me which pages and how many and I will look at what fits.
To get it: update ESP Screen Manager in Home Assistant, then press Update on each screen so it takes firmware 0.2.100.

Thanks Max, much appreciated. Looks great.
I think what you say about links to other pages in the top bar makes sense. It just came to mind whilst typing. We can always use a tile for that purpose.
At a certain point a bigger screen makes more sense than trying to squeeze everything into a smaller one.
Thanks again!

@twoller thank you, and thanks for thinking it through out loud. That is exactly the kind of feedback that makes a feature better, whether or not it ends up being built.
Agreed on the tile: a Go to page tile can be double-width or take a whole page, so one of them on each page that belongs together gets you around a screen without taking room away from the clock and your own values. And you are right about the size as well. Once a screen needs more than it can show at a glance, a bigger panel beats squeezing, which is why the 7 inch and the 10.1 inch are in there now.
I am closing this one, since the house covers the going home half and page links are served well enough by tiles. If you ever run into a case where a tile does not do it, reopen this or open a new one. I would rather hear it twice than not at all.
Like my work? Consider buying me a coffee, much appreciated!
